WINDSOR SEAWOLVES SWIMMING CLUB

The Windsor Seawolves Swimming Club is a sub-committee of the Windsor State School P&C and is organised every year by volunteer parents. The Seawolves Swimming Club has been in operation since 1995. The Windsor Seawolves Swimming Club provides a safe, fun, and challenging environment in which every child can improve their swimming abilities. The Seawolves organise a program of events directed to all levels of ability so that all can participate and enjoy the sport of swimming, together with their friends and family.

Swimmers can enjoy Seawolves in Term 1 and in Term 4 of the school calendar. Club nights are held on a Friday night, beginning at 5:45pm and the last event is usually finished by 8:00pm.

Who can join Seawolves?

STEP 3 VOLUNTEER
The club relies entirely on the generosity of volunteers for the running of all events. We request every member family contribute to volunteer duties throughout the season. At a minimum, please register for two volunteering duties each term (four per season). Volunteers must be parents of children attending Seawolves OR must or hold a blue card. Please note all 'restricted persons' are prohibited from volunteering. If you have any difficulty volunteering, please contact us via email.

How do Seawolves club nights work?

The club offers an organised program of events each week in the following order:

  1. 15m Tadpoles event: A parent, older sibling or senior club member accompanies the swimmer for a 15m swim
  2. 30m Kickboard event: Swimmers use a kickboard to swim 30m. Swimmers may choose either kickboard or 30m events, not both
  3. 120m Individual medley: Swimmers must qualify for and swim 60m in all strokes to participate in the individual medley
  4. 30m Freestyle/ breaststroke/ backstroke/ butterfly: All swimmers can participate in the 30m events until they achieve the qualifying time for a 60m race
  5. 60m Freestyle/ breaststroke/ backstroke/ butterfly: Swimmers achieving the relevant qualifying times in their 30m race are eligible to swim in the 60m races
  6. 120m Single stroke event: One 120m event is held each club night. When a swimmer achieves the qualifying time in their 60m race they can progress to 120m

Each swimmer is timed in each of their nominated strokes to set their initial ‘best time’. Each club night they try to better their times with points being awarded each week according to how they swim against their own best time. Trophies are awarded at the end of the season to the children in each age group with the highest points. See the handbook for qualifying times and points allocations.
